Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) and Cain’s (Jeff Hordley) marriage has hit the rocks in the past in Emmerdale and it’s always been something pretty monumental to shake their foundations.
That goes some way to show the level of Moira’s screw up that’s about to hit them hard.
Tensions are running high with Matty (Ash Palmisciano) locked away until his hearing. He was jailed after he accidentally stabbed Samson (Sam Hall) during a transphobic attack, with Samson claiming Matty stabbed him on purpose.
Moira is barely coping knowing there’s nothing she can do to help her son. When he confesses his fears and shares that he’s not showered since being behind bars, Moira is wrecked.
Cain does his bit to try and help by urging Samson to tell the truth, but Samson isn’t budging. It’s back to the drawing board for a plan to save Matty, and Moira knows that she and Cain need to do something drastic.
In a worryingly cryptic comment to her husband, Moira tells Cain that there’s more than one way to skin a cat. Next thing is Moira is seen following Samson into the toilets at the Woolpack with sinister intentions – which majorly backfire.
Cain gives her an ear full that these hairbrained plans are not the way to go and instead risks putting Matty’s case in jeopardy. Playing by the rules is somewhat of a very un-Cain-like suggestion, so maybe he has a point.
Moira is enraged by Cain’s lack of support. In response, she loses it – she belittles and emasculates him at the dinner table, leaving him agog, even hurt, at her cutting words.
The next day, she’s regretful, but Cain is still hurting and isn’t about to let her forget the wounds her words caused.
Cain later returns to Butlers drunk and things escalate between them, to the point that Moira realises she’s losing the grip on her marriage. Will Matty’s predicament rip them apart?
