The first installment ofΒ Kevin Costnerβs Western epic βHorizon, an American Sagaβ is set to premiere out of competition at Cannes Film Festival.
Costner directed the four-part project, which he also stars in with Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington and Jena Malone. The βYellowstoneβ and βDances With Wolvesβ actor will be on the Croisette to present the film on May 19.
βHorizonβ will also be released in theaters in two parts, with the first installment bowing on June 28 and the second on Aug. 16.
βIβd like to thank the Festival de Cannes for including my film βHorizon, an American Sagaβ in this yearβs selection,β Costner said in a statement. βItβs been 20 years since Iβve had the pleasure of being on the Croisette. Iβve been waiting for the right time to return and Iβm proud to say that this time has come.

βHorizon, an American Sagaβ is described in the festivalβs press release as a βmonumental project about the cost, in terms of war and violence, of the construction and expansion of the United States of America.β
Costnerβs project joins the Cannes Film Festival out of competition lineup alongside George Millerβs βFuriosa: A Mad Max Sagaβ and opener βThe Second Act,β directed by Quentin Dupieux and starring LΓ©a Seydoux and Vincent Lindon.
The full Cannes selection will be unveiled on Thursday. Other films rumored to be making their debuts at the festival include Francis Ford Coppolaβs βMegalopolis,β the fate of whichΒ VarietyΒ hears is still to be decided, and Yorgos Lanthimosβ βKinds of Kindnessβ starring Emma Stone.
