Itβs been a harrowing few weeks for Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) following baby Evanβs leukaemia diagnosis. Itβs tested them as a couple, and itβs tested them as a family.
The baby was diagnosed after a terrified DawnΒ discovered he was covered in bruises. Once the doctor revealed the diagnosis, they were told Evan needed to start treatment immediately, and Dawn chose to spend the time in the hospital by his side.
This put huge strain on her and Billy, asΒ she became resentful that he was able toΒ leave the hospital and return to normal life, while he resented her for being able to remain with Evan while he had to return home and keep their family together.
Itβs been a tough time for them both thatβs seen them re-learn how to communicate.
But there have been other bumps in the road β such as Dawn wanting to make the βpain go awayβ, leaving Will (Dean Andrews) fearful she was planning on turning back to drugs. Enter her birth mum Rose (Christine Tremeco), who ham-fistedly tried to help by offering recovering addict Dawn sleeping pills.
Of course we know Rose isnβt really there to help, her mission is to bed Will and destroy Kimβs (Claire King) life on behalf of Ruby (Beth Cordingly). So thatβs another bit of bad news heading Dawnβs way at some point.
But for now, thereβs good news on the horizon. Baby Evan is well enough to come home.
Itβs exactly what the family wants to hear and his parents are overjoyed at being able to take the tot back to Home Farm.
But while it all sounds like things are hunky dory and can return to normal, things are not as they seem.
Dawn is developing a huge anxiety around her son, petrified sheβll accidentally give him an infection and kill him.
Things get so bad, she becomes too afraid to hug her other kids for fear of picking up germs and transferring them.
It looks like thereβs a fresh challenge ahead β what does the future hold for Dawn?
