Emmerdale icon Emma Atkins has opened up about her character Charity Dingle’s relationship with Mackenzie Boyd and whether or not she’d like to see her reunite with Cain Dingle
EmmerdaleΒ favourite Emma Atkins has given her view on the possibility of Charity Dingle rekindling a relationship with Cain Dingle.
Currently, the soap character is wed to Mackenzie Boyd, portrayed by Lawrence Robb, and the pair are making it work after a turbulent period due to infidelity and an unexpected baby.
Whilst attending a recentΒ EmmerdaleΒ press event, asked about the state of Charityβs union with Mack, Emma responded: βYeah, probably thatβs why we havenβt been doing much stuff because weβre on an even keel.β
She continued, βItβs quite good, itβs comfortable and steady. Itβs quite functional which is unheard for Charity but itβs allowed us all to have a bit of a breather.β
Speaking on current storylines she expressed, βIn fact, weβve been blessed with two years of awesome and consistent storylines so I think weβre just doing our own thing. Mack is doing a lot with Aaron (portrayed by Danny Miller) so itβs been good to do some Dingle stuff.β

Touching upon the topic of whether there would be a spark again between Charity and Cain, Emma confessed: βWouldnβt it be nice. I do love the old school Cain and Charity but we all know that time moves on and I do love the Moira/Cain chemistry.β

βItβs brilliant because they are both different and work as a Yin and Yang but with Charity and Cain, thereβs that level that thereβd be too much friction because they are from a similar stock where as Moira has that morally upstanding nature and I wouldnβt want to change their dynamic but I would love to work with Jeff and Nat Robb.β
Charity is set for explosive scenes as she grows suspicious of Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) and her relationship with hubby Tom King (James Chase).
The star said: βCharity starts to notice behavioural changes in Belle. She seems a lot more closed off, she doesnβt really want to socialise with her friends or family and sheβs home a lot at Tom and whenever sheβs out in the street sheβs always with Tom and Charity is like βyouβre never on your own, Belleβ.β

βSheβs started to let her know that sheβs picking up this vibe that something may potentially be wrong but she knows at first sheβs got to play it as this subtle game. She teases little things out of Belle but not enough to know so she decides to plan a girly night.β
βShe goes to see Chas and Lydia and says βI feel something is not right and I want to get to the bottom of it and at this point suspicions of Tomβs behaviour is ramping up.β
