YellowstoneβsΒ Kelly ReillyΒ is quick to insist that she doesnβt know what the back half of Season 5 holds in store for Beth Dutton. βI mean, I know the ending of theΒ show, which Iβve known for six years,β she tells TVLine. βWe all knew what the ending would be. Weβre going to film that this summer.β
However, the way that Bethβs storyline wraps up on theΒ Paramount NetworkΒ hit remains a mystery, even to her portrayer. βBut what would I hope for her?β Reilly muses. βPeace, I think.β
Given the fact that her character tends to tear through life like a bull in a china shop, does she really think that thatβs possible? βAs possible as it is for any of us,β she says. βPeace requires some digging and some surrender and letting go of old pains and hurts.
βI certainly believe that she can find that,β she continues. βWhether or not thatβs possible, I donβt know. Sheβs such a warrior, isnβt she? Her reason to be is to protect. Her reason to be is to fight. But Iβd like to see that for her.β
Perhaps in the seriesβ last episodes, Beth will finally show up for herself with the same ferocity that she always has her beloved father. βYeah!β Reilly says. Although βI question potentially whether happiness is allowed. Over the seasons, weβve been able to see where it might exist. But sheβs taken out of it so quickly. Maybe thereβs a future where sheβs not sort of yanked out of her happiness.β
YellowstoneΒ Season 5 resumes on Paramount Network in November (with a spinoff to follow). In the meantime, you can catch Reilly in a very different role in Paramount+βs beautifully messyΒ coming-of-age filmΒ Little WingΒ (now streaming).
