Maybe This Time? Bold & Beautiful Return Is an Invitation to Do βWriteβ by a Badly Mishandled Character
WhenΒ The Bold and the Beautiful brings back Thomas ForresterΒ the week of June 24, on his arm will be none other than the long-MIA Paris Buckingham βΒ and in the showβs hands, a golden opportunity.
Historically, Paris has been written as more of a plot device than an actual character β to the point that it feels like we barely know who she is. When the soap gave her aΒ crush on married man Finn, she told us that she longed to have the stable home life that he and Steffy did. But when Zende got serious about her, she informed him that she wanted to play the field β and with, of all people, Carter, who she knew had slept with Quinn behind Ericβs back.
So in short, the writing for Paris has made no sense. Itβs been all over the place. βI want commitment! On second thought, no, I donβt! Iβm honorable! I like the guy who cheated with the bossβ wife!β Huh? And donβt even get us started on the embarrassment that was fartgate!
But we can put all of that in the past ifΒ Bold & BeautifulΒ brings Paris back with not only Thomasβ engagement ring on her finger but a clear through-line in her head. If she is written as having genuinely fallen for the unlucky-in-love bachelor, if she is written as being 100-percent in synch with his desire to get married now, now, now, she could be a formidable rival for Hope and a true partner for Thomas.
